Snoop

Have you tried Snoop’s £75,000 saving?

Heard the story of how we helped a community in Milton Keynes get a £75,000 rebate from Anglian Water? 💪

Snooper James McGeever spotted a Snoop in the app encouraging people to check whether they should be paying the 'surface water drainage' charge on their water bill 🔎

James challenged it, got a £230 backdated rebate and passed the Snoop on to other residents on his estate. They're now claiming back around £75,000 for extra money they've all paid over the last 8 years 💪

Water companies collect over £1 billion from consumers for surface water drainage. But the onus is on you – not the water company – to check if you should be paying it.  We think there could be tens of thousands of people overpaying. Check you’re not one of them.

What is surface water drainage?

Water companies collect around £1 billion for surface water drainage and many people don’t know they’re paying for it – and more importantly, may not need to 😮

If you're being charged but rainwater doesn't drain from your property into a public sewer, you may be eligible for a drainage rebate.

You'll pay for surface water drainage in your bill in one of three ways:

  • A fee in the standing charge
  • A charge based on the rateable value of your property
  • A charge related to the type of property you live in

If you can prove that the surface rainwater from your property doesn't drain into the public sewer, you may be entitled to an exemption from future surface water charges.

Take a look at the diagram below to work out if you're eligible for a refund and should make a claim!

A great win for James and his estate. And a warm robot glow for me, seeing Snoopers saving some big money! 🙌
