Roaming for deals

Happy August everyone, I hope you are enjoying the dry summer and sunny weather. Here's what I have been up to…

First of all, I went on a cruise with my family, with one of the stops being Turkey.

Being outside the EU, Turkey is not covered as part of my mobile data-inclusive destinations, so I tried out eSIM provider Airalo.

They give you access to 190+ eSIMs globally and you can install your international data plan before you leave the UK.

As a result, I had a seamless data connection once I arrived in Turkey - highly recommend!

If you are looking for something more local this summer, don't miss out on Trainline's 33% discount offer if you buy a digital railcard through them.

Using the code SUMMER33 before 31/08 brings the price down for a range of railcards to just £20 – a great value saving right there.

Also, Stena Line ferries is offering discounted day trips to Ireland for the rest of the year.

Book a foot passenger day trip from Holyhead to Dublin any Tue/Wed this year and it will cost just £12 per adult, or £30 for 2x adults and 2x children. The journey takes about 3 hrs, and you get up to 8 hrs in Dublin, depending on the sailings you choose.

A few more things to be mindful of that I thought I’d share for awareness.

  • Until 31/08, Mondays to Fridays, you can get IKEA meatballs or plant balls in tomato sauce with pasta and a Daim cake for £3.95 (down from £6.80 – after 5.30pm), or a croissant and hot drink for 95p (normally £3 – 9.30-11am)
  • If you’re in the market for home insurance renewal, GoCompare gives you an exclusive £20 Amazon.co.uk gift card when you take out a policy through Snoop
  • If you’re travelling to Spain this summer and want to save on the extortionately high car rental prices, visit the website of Spanish rail operator 'Renfe' to benefit from complimentary rail travel between 01/09 – 31/12/2022
  • Prime subscription charges are going up to £8.99/pm and £95/pa from 15/09 onwards (new subscriptions only, or at next renewal date)

Have a good month everyone and speak to you soon.
