Snoop

Terms & Conditions

1 December 2021 and 26 July 2022

These terms and conditions ('Terms') apply to your use of our mobile applications ('Mobile App'), our web application (‘Web App’) (together the ‘Apps’), our website and our services described below and form part of the agreement between you and Usnoop Limited ('Snoop', 'we', 'us'). Our company number is 11797870 and our registered office is at 10 Norwich Street, London, United Kingdom, EC4A 1BD.

By using the Snoop Apps and website you agree to these Terms. You should read these Terms carefully along with our Privacy and Cookie Policy, and only use our service if you are over 18 and you agree to them.

These Terms have no fixed or minimum duration. They will apply until either you or we end this agreement (see 'Your right to cancel' and 'Our right to suspend, restrict or end this agreement').

What is Snoop?

Snoop is a robot friend for your money that does four key things for you:

  1. Snoop organises your finances so you can see all your different online accounts, for example bank accounts, savings accounts and credit cards in our Apps, meaning you can see your money in one place. We do this by using regulated Open Banking technology to communicate with your third-party bank account providers in a secure way.
  2. Snoop allows you to see all your regular bills in one list and get reminders at the right time so you can shop around for a new deal through the Apps.
  3. Snoop automatically checks how much you are being charged for things by the banks and big businesses you deal with. If Snoop thinks you're being taken advantage of, you're overpaying for something, or it thinks there's something you should know that will benefit you, Snoop will tell you by email, push notification or in the Snoop app. We call these 'Snoops' and ‘Alerts’.
  4. Snoop looks for smart ideas it thinks could save you money or help you more generally. Snoop will create a personalised list of these ideas just for you and communicate it to you. If Snoop finds any ideas that it thinks are particularly important, Snoop will let you know.

We are constantly developing and improving the Apps, so we will also tell you about new features of Snoop we’ve launched that you might not be aware of, existing features of Snoop we can see you've not used and new or existing third-party services which can be accessed through the Apps.

We may also develop the Mobile and Web Apps at different paces, so you may find some features are available in one but not the other. We will let you know which features are available in each channel.

We recognise everyone will want something different from Snoop – so that’s why Snoop has been built to learn from each user, so we can provide you with a customised experience that will be the most help for you.

How does Snoop do it?

Through the secure processing of your personal data. Without access to your personal data, and the right to process it as required, Snoop cannot perform the main functions for you that it has been designed for. Your privacy and security are our number one priority, and your data is always protected by bank-level security.

Please see our Privacy and Cookie Policy for details of how and on what basis we collect information about you, and the ways in which you and your data are protected.

Snoop operates separately from the providers of your personal accounts which we connect to. We are not endorsed by the providers of your personal accounts, but sometimes receive payment from them if we promote their products and services on our Apps through website links.

As part of the service, Snoop may provide content, website links and offers from various third parties, which may include the providers of your personal accounts. If you move to a new product or service because of Snoop, these third parties may pay us. We will do our best to check accuracy, but we aren’t responsible for the products and services provided to you by these third parties – these fall under the terms and conditions of the third party themselves.

When Snoop makes tailored product suggestions for you,  we are not driven by whether we receive a payment or not - we don't compromise ourselves in that way, we always look for the best fit and service for the users of Snoop.

What does Snoop cost?

There is a version of Snoop which is free to use. For this version, there is no subscription charge or price that you are required to pay.

There are also versions of Snoop which gives access to certain Snoop features or enhanced Snoop features in return for subscription fees. These fees are payable upfront for accessing the ‘paid for’ features, or at the end of any applicable free trial period.

Subscription fees may be paid on a monthly or annual basis. All subscription fees are payable in advance. Snoop users changing from monthly to annual subscriptions will have the annual rates take effect at the beginning of the next billing period. You agree to pay the subscription fees, whether on a one-time or subscription basis. Snoop reserves the right to increase subscription fees, any associated taxes, or to add new fees at any time upon reasonable advance notice to you. Snoop also reserves the right to discount subscription fees at any time and for these discounts to apply to some or all customers. You have a right to cancel your subscription at any time. See the section entitled "Your right to cancel" for more information on how to do this.

As you would expect, these Terms only cover the services provided by us. They don't deal with taxes or costs that might be charged by third parties that you need to pay in order to receive our services – for example costs charged by your mobile phone provider.

Using Snoop

To use Snoop you need to download the Mobile App or access the Web App and register to create a Snoop account using your legal name. You can only register once for each mobile number you may possess.

If you decide not to connect a bank account straight away (see ‘Connecting your personal accounts’) you will still be able to read and use Snoops, but the number of Snoops and how relevant they are will increase as you link more accounts and we can learn more about where you spend. You will also be able to access Snoop services which allow you to check for better deals and switch to those deals, but the reminders and prompts suggesting you check for deals will increase in relevance as you link more accounts as we can learn more about your existing product relationships and associated costs.

If you choose not to use Snoop for a period of time, we may pause some features which depend on our processing of your information (for example, the provision of new Snoops). These features will recommence when you login to the Apps again.

Your use of the Snoop Mobile App is also subject to the terms and conditions and privacy policies of the app store you downloaded it from.

Some parts of the Snoop service depend on other people (third parties and partners). We always try to keep Snoop available, though we can't promise it always will be or that it will work perfectly, particularly if the Apps or a partner service is undergoing maintenance. If this happens, we’ll tell you about it if we think you need to know and will get things back up and running as soon as we can.

For the Mobile App to work, your device needs to meet our operating system requirements. You can check these here. If we know your device’s operating system and we plan to stop supporting it, we’ll give you at least 30 days’ notice. If you have paid for an annual subscription in advance and we stop supporting your device's operating system which causes the Snoop service to degrade, get in touch with us at hello@snoop.app to arrange a refund. If you don’t install operating system updates and new versions of the Mobile App, the Mobile App might not work properly or at all, and your subscription fee will continue to be charged so we recommend installing updates when they become available.

The Mobile App also may not work as designed if your device has been changed or tampered with (better known as ‘jail breaking’ or ‘rooting’), or if you use software which may interfere with our ability to deliver the services.

For the Snoop Web App to work, you need to use compatible browsers and keep them up-to-date. You can check compatible browsers here.  If we know your browser and we plan to stop supporting it, we’ll give you at least 30 days’ notice. If you have paid for an annual subscription in advance and we stop supporting your browser which causes the Snoop service to degrade, get in touch with us at hello@snoop.app to arrange a refund. If you don’t start using a compatible browser, the Web App might not work properly or at all, and your subscription fee will still be charged so we recommend checking the list of compatible browsers and keeping your browser up-to-date.

Intellectual Property

Snoop grants you a non-exclusive and non-transferable licence to use the Apps and website for your personal use only. Snoop has the right to revoke your licence at any point if you do not comply with these Terms. All other rights in the Apps and website are reserved by Snoop or its licensors. Snoop (or its licensors) own all intellectual property rights in the Apps and in the material published on them. Those works are protected by copyright laws and treaties around the world. All such rights are reserved.

Our status (and that of any identified contributors) as the authors of the content on the Apps and website must always be acknowledged. You must not use any part of the content on our Apps or website for commercial purposes without obtaining a licence to do so from us or our licensors.

Prohibited Uses

You agree:

Not to reproduce, duplicate, copy or re-sell any part of our site or app in contravention of the provisions of these terms.

Not to access without authority, interfere with, damage or disrupt:

  • any part of our site or our Apps or website;
  • any equipment or network on which our website or Apps are stored;
  • any software used in the provision of our website or our Apps; or
  • any equipment or network or software owned or used by any third party.

Keeping you secure

When you register, you choose a security PIN which you must keep secret. If you forget it, we will be able to help you re-set it in some circumstances. We’ll never ask you to tell us your security PIN so you shouldn’t share it with anyone, even if you think they work for Snoop.

The Mobile App may also use your device’s biometric capabilities (such as fingerprint or facial recognition) to give you access, if you choose to enable these. In order to login securely to the Web App you will need to have downloaded the Mobile App.

As with any service holding your financial information, it is important to keep any login details secure. We will ensure that your Snoop security credentials are not accessible to other parties and are transmitted through safe and efficient channels.

You must take all reasonable steps to keep your security PIN and the device on which the Mobile App is installed or the Web App is accessed, safe and secure, and you will  not disclose your PIN or allow it to be used by anyone else. You must not leave the device you are using unattended while you are logged in to the Apps. In the event that you dispose of your device, you must delete the Mobile App and/or make sure the Web App can no longer be accessed.

If the device on which the Apps are installed or accessed, is lost or stolen, or you suspect that someone else might know your security PIN, you must tell us immediately and we will help you change your security PIN (see 'Contacting Each Other'). Snoop is not responsible for any of your losses which result from your security PIN being disclosed to anyone else, or accessed by anyone else.

Connecting your personal accounts

To get the most value from Snoop you will need to connect your online personal accounts, such as current accounts and credit cards.

We use regulated Open Banking technology provided by a third-party service-provider to access information about the balances and transactions on your personal accounts. You will be asked to provide your explicit consent to your account provider before we can access this information.

Our service also allows information to be obtained (such as transaction history) from your personal accounts for use with other third parties. If you select this option and provide your explicit consent to us, we will provide the information to you and the relevant third party in line with your instructions.

We will request the relevant information from your personal account providers on a regular basis in accordance with your consent until the consent expires or is withdrawn. Snoop will not request more information than is necessary to provide the specific service that we are offering, and we will not request information from your personal account providers which could be used to carry out fraud. For example, we may ask for an account number, but we won't ask for any secret passwords, numbers or codes linked to your personal accounts.

In the event you no longer want your personal account information to be displayed in the Mobile App or Web App, nor stored by Snoop, you may remove these accounts from within the Apps or by emailing us at hello@snoop.app.

You may withdraw your consent for us to access your personal account information at any time, by contacting your account provider.

Snoop won’t check the accuracy of the information given by your personal account providers and won’t be able to correct or investigate your personal accounts on behalf of your providers. You should check your personal accounts if you think you might go overdrawn and/or you are not sure if you have enough money to make a payment. We are not responsible for ensuring that you are always aware of your personal account balances, or that the balances we show you are always up to date. We are not responsible for any action you choose to take as a result of any Snoops or Alerts we provide, for example your decision to switch a service with Snoop.

If you set up an Alert with Snoop, you acknowledge and agree that these will not be based on real-time information so should be seen as a guide only. You should not rely upon any Alerts on Snoop to manage your financial affairs or mitigate fraud. You are responsible for monitoring your personal accounts accurately. Snoop is not responsible for any losses you suffer as a result of your reliance on Alerts set up with Snoop.

Submitting a ‘Snoop’

If you have a ‘Snoop’ you would like to share with other Snoop customers, you can send it to us. We will check it and possibly amend or add more content to it, and we will publish it if we agree it may be of interest to other Snoop customers, and giving you due acknowledgement unless you tell us you don't want this.

When you submit a Snoop, you confirm you have all the necessary rights to allow us to reproduce and distribute it to other Snoop customers.

You can also send us ideas and feedback on how to make Snoop better. We may use this feedback to develop new products or features, but we won’t offer you payment or recognition for doing so.

Snoop Rewards

Sometimes we'll offer rewards for things like connecting your accounts, switching a service or inviting friends to join Snoop. Unless we have given an expiry date, we can withdraw or change these offers any time, without letting you know in advance.

Contacting each other

We will provide you with information and Snoop notifications primarily through the Apps, although we may also send you information and Snoops to your email address or mobile number by SMS where we consider this appropriate. Take a look at our Privacy and Cookie Policy for more information on how this works. You are responsible for maintaining and regularly checking your Mobile App, Web App, device or e-mail inbox for information and notifications from us.

If your contact details (including your mobile phone number or email address) change, you should tell us as soon as you can or update these in the Apps if that feature is available. We will communicate with you in English.

You can contact us through the Apps or you can email us at hello@snoop.app.

Your right to cancel

You have a right to cancel the free version of Snoop at any time, without charge. You can request this by emailing us at hello@snoop.app or from within the Apps if that feature is available.

You also have a right to cancel our paid-for subscription service at any time in the first 14 days after you have entered into an agreement to take out a subscription with us.

Where no free trial has been offered, we will charge you for your use of the subscription service at the point you agree to use the services, but if you then decide to cancel in the first 14 days, you may request a refund from the applicable app store.  If you do this, no further subscription payments will be taken and your access to the paid-for subscription features will end at the end of the current billing period. If you choose to cancel outside of the first 14 days, no refunds will be provided unless otherwise stated in these Terms.

If you cancel or end this agreement, once a further 6 months have passed, we will anonymise and archive all personal data we hold about you. Please see our Privacy and Cookie Policy for further information.

Free trials

From time to time we may offer free trials of the 'paid for' subscription service. Additional terms shall apply to these free trials, which we will provide to you before entering into the trial. The free trial will never affect your statutory right to cancel the subscription  agreement in the first 14 days, set out above.

Our right to suspend, restrict or end this agreement

We may stop providing the service if you’ve not used Snoop for a while, but we’ll always check with you first before we do.

We may also close or freeze your account without your permission if you have been abusive to a member of Snoop staff or community member, or submitted inappropriate and/or offensive content.

We may at any time suspend, restrict, or end your use of our service, your account or the Apps if we think your security may have been breached, or your privacy could be at risk through attempted fraudulent activity, including if:

  1. we reasonably believe that your security PIN has not been kept safe or the security of your Mobile App or the device on which it has been installed or the security of your Web App, has been or could be, compromised;
  2. we reasonably suspect that your security PIN, the Apps, or the devices on which they have been installed or accessed from, has been used fraudulently or without your permission;
  3. we reasonably suspect you are fraudulently attempting to gain access to Snoop offers or rewards; or
  4. we need to do so to comply with the law of any jurisdiction.

Unless informing you would compromise reasonable security measures or otherwise be unlawful, we will inform you before suspending, restricting or cancelling our service, your account or the Apps, and we will tell you our reasons why we’ve done this. If it is not practical to inform you in advance and unless doing so would compromise reasonable security measures or otherwise be unlawful, we will inform you immediately afterwards, giving the reasons why we’ve suspended or cancelled your service. We will allow you to resume your use of the Apps or the service as soon as practical after the reasons for stopping its use cease to exist.

In the event that we need to contact you in respect of suspected fraud or any other security threat we will do so in the way that we think is the most secure in the circumstances.

Our liability

If we fail to comply with these Terms, we are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breach, or our failure to use reasonable care and skill, but we are not responsible for any loss or damage that is not foreseeable. Loss or damage is foreseeable if either it is obvious that it will happen or if, at the time you accepted these Terms, both we and you knew it might happen.

We do not exclude or limit in any way our liability to you where it would be unlawful to do so. This includes liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence or the negligence of our employees, agents or subcontractors; for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.

If defective digital content which we have supplied damages a device or digital content belonging to you and this is caused by our failure to use reasonable care and skill we will either repair the damage or pay you compensation. However, we will not be liable for damage which you could have avoided by following our advice to apply an update offered to you free of charge.

We are not liable for business losses. We only provide the Apps for your domestic and private use. If you use the Apps for any commercial, business or re-sale purpose we will have no liability to you for any loss of profit, loss of business, business interruption, or loss of business opportunity.

Making changes to this agreement

These Terms will always be available in the Apps and on our website.

We can make changes to these Terms from time to time. As this agreement has no fixed duration, we can't predict all of the reasons why we might change these Terms, but we have set out some of these below. We'll only ever make changes that are proportionate and reasonable and if we have a valid reason for doing so, taking into account your interests (even if it is not one of the reasons set out below).

We might make changes because:

  1. we have made changes to our technology or other systems
  2. we have extended the services we can offer
  3. there have been changes to legislation, changes in regulatory requirements or new case law that affects us
  4. there have been changes in the cost to us of funding our service, or
  5. for any other valid reason.

We will implement minor changes immediately (unless we are required to give you notice by law), and will give you reasonable advance written notice by email or through the App of any intended significant change to the Terms along with the new version of the Terms. If you don't agree to the changes, you can close your Snoop account by emailing us at hello@snoop.app or from within the Apps if that feature is available. If you don’t close your Snoop account, we’ll assume that you’re happy with the changes we’ve made. You have a right to end this agreement at any time before the proposed change takes effect.

How to make a complaint

If you have a complaint, please send us a message from the Snoop App or email us at complaints@snoop.app. We’ll send you a prompt reply and will get back to you with a full response to your complaint as soon as we can, but always within 15 business days of receiving it. We'll do our best to fix the problem.

If you're still not happy, you can refer your complaint to the Financial Ombudsman Service Exchange Tower, London E14 9SR, by calling 0800 023 4567 or 0300 123 9123 or by sending an email to complaint.info@financial-ombudsman.org.uk. For more details you can visit its website at www.financial-ombudsman.org.uk

Information regarding our internal complaint handling procedures can be found on our website

Snoop customers do not qualify for compensation under any statutory or other compensation scheme should we become unable to meet our liabilities.

Other important terms

Snoop may transfer its rights and obligations under these Terms to another organisation. We will always tell you in writing if this happens and we will ensure that the transfer will not affect your rights under the contract.

You need our written consent to transfer your rights under these Terms to someone else.

These Terms are between you and us. No other person shall have any right to enforce any of the terms.

Each of the paragraphs of these Terms operates separately. If any court or relevant authority decides that any of them are unlawful, the remaining paragraphs will remain in full force and effect.

Even if we delay in enforcing this contract, we can still enforce it later. If we do not insist immediately that you do anything you are required to do under these Terms, or if we delay in taking steps against you in respect of your breach, that will not mean that you do not have to do those things and it will not prevent us taking steps against you at a later date.

These Terms, and all our dealings with you are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute can be dealt with by an English and Welsh court unless your address is in Scotland (where you can choose between the courts of England and Wales or the courts of Scotland); or Northern Ireland (where you can choose between the courts of England and Wales or the courts of Northern Ireland).

These Terms are provided in English.
